Active Design course returns as demand grows for practical postural seating education
Active Design, a UK leader in specialist postural seating and mobility solutions, has delivered the latest session of its postural seating training programme, welcoming clinicians and rehabilitation professionals to its headquarters in Birmingham on 11 February 2026 for a one-day course focused on effective seating prescription.
The course focused on essential principles and practical skills for effective seating prescription. The programme combines structured teaching with applied discussion and a guided factory tour, allowing delegates to see how clinical intent is translated into engineered seating systems.
The emphasis throughout the day was clear: getting prescribing right matters. Decisions made during assessment influence posture, comfort, skin integrity and long-term functional outcomes. Supporting confident, clinically reasoned prescription remains central to effective postural management.
This was the second delivery of the course following a successful pilot in October 2025, with continued strong interest from across the sector. Importantly, the training is provided free of charge to clinicians and professionals working within this specialist field, reflecting Active Design’s commitment to collaboration and shared learning.
Feedback from delegates reflected the value of the format, with one attendee commenting: “I think it was a good combination of practical and lecture. I think it was a good overview of positioning.”
Commenting on the course, Steve Doble, Business Development Manager at Active Design, said: “There is a clear appetite for practical, clinically grounded education in postural seating. Bringing clinicians and engineers together, and opening up our manufacturing environment, helps strengthen understanding across the whole process. When prescribing decisions are informed and confident, outcomes improve.”
Two further course dates are scheduled for 2026 in June and October, with additional sessions potentially being added in response to strong demand.
The programme forms part of Active Design’s wider commitment to collaboration, knowledge-sharing and clinically informed engineering across its seating systems and accessories portfolio.
