Active Design sees record attendance for postural seating course as demand for clinical education grows

Active Design has delivered its highest-attended postural seating course to date, as demand continues to grow for practical, clinically informed education around effective seating prescription.

The one-day course, Essential Principles and Practical Skills for Effective Seating Prescription, took place at Active Design’s Birmingham facility and welcomed a record number of delegates. The session brought together clinicians, rehabilitation professionals and members of the wider seating community for a structured day of learning, discussion and practical insight.

Developed to support those involved in seating assessment and prescription, the course focuses on core postural principles, clinical reasoning and the practical application of assessment findings to seating solutions. It is designed to help professionals build confidence when working with people who have complex postural needs, where seating decisions can directly affect comfort, function, participation and long-term outcomes.

The latest course reflects the continued momentum behind Active Design’s education programme, following its first successful session in October 2025 and a fully booked course in February 2026.

Commenting on the response, Steve Doble, course facilitator at Active Design, said: “The level of interest we have seen in these courses has been extremely encouraging. Record attendance shows there is a real appetite across the sector for practical education that connects postural theory with real-world seating challenges.

“What makes the course valuable is the discussion it creates. Clinicians, engineers and other professionals are able to come together, ask questions, share experiences and explore how seating decisions can support better outcomes for the people they work with.”

The course also reflects Active Design’s wider approach to specialist postural seating, combining engineering knowledge with clinical understanding. As a UK manufacturer of modular and custom seating systems, Active Design works closely with clinicians and services to ensure product development and practical support remain grounded in real-world need.

With demand continuing to build, Active Design is encouraging early registration for future course dates. The next session is scheduled for Wednesday 7 October 2026.
